Friend of Scotland Elected Speaker in Pakistan
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of Lahore on his appointment on 3 June 2013 as the Speaker of the 14th National Assembly of Pakistan for a five-year term; notes that he received a majority of 258 votes of the 313 votes cast in the election to the lower house of the parliament; understands that the Speaker is the highest office of the National Assembly of Pakistan, is second in the line of succession to the President and occupies fourth position in the Warrant of Precedence, after the President, the Prime Minister and the Chairman of Senate, and welcomes that the Speaker is the spokesman for the National Assembly on an international level and is non-partisan in his approach.
