Rise in Start-ups with Scottish Government Support
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes figures from the Federation of Small Businesses that suggest that more than 30,000 businesses in Scotland registered with Companies House in 2013; understands that this represents a 19% rise from the previous year and brings the total number of registered businesses in Scotland to 340,000; believes that this is the highest such number ever recorded; notes that the EH3 postcode in Edinburgh, which takes in the New Town, Stockbridge, West End and Tollcross, was the second highest postcode for registering new businesses; and supports what it sees as the Scottish Government’s continuing commitment to small businesses, including the Small Business Bonus Scheme, which, it believes, has provided valuable support to entrepreneurs as the country approaches economic recovery.
