Establishment of the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the establishment of the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research as the UK’s first coordinated, integrated approach to applied asthma research; shares its goal of finding better treatments for asthma and getting them to patients quicker than ever before; understands that the centre brings together the UK’s top asthma researchers alongside people with asthma and the healthcare professionals who treat them, putting people with asthma, and their needs, at the heart of all its research, and understands that the centre is coordinated through the University of Edinburgh and Queen Mary University of London and backed by 13 of the UK’s leading academic and NHS organisations and that it will fast-track new treatments, be cost-effective through reducing duplication and be plugged directly into NHS primary care, ensuring that all of its discoveries and findings become a part of mainstream asthma treatment as quickly as possible.
