Hearts FC Ditches Payday Loan Sponsor
The motion
That the Parliament notes that Heart of Midlothian FC has decided against renewing a sponsorship deal with the payday loan company, Wonga; understands that Hearts took this decision due to the concerns of many fans about the appropriateness of the connection; notes that next season's home shirt will be blank in tribute to the members of the 1914-15 Hearts team who joined McCrae’s Battalion in the First World War, while the away shirt will feature the fans group, Foundation of Hearts, crest; supports the decision of the club not to continue to advertise payday loans, and believes that football clubs should consider their role as community institutions when choosing commercial partners.
