Opening of the Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the opening of the Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication at Heriot-Watt University, which aims to promote Chinese language and culture for educational and business purposes; understands that this builds on Heriot-Watt’s developing links with China and its position as a centre of excellence in interpreting and translating, for which the university has some of the best facilities in the UK; commends the Confucius institute’s partnership with China’s Tianjin University for Finance and Economics, and believes that it will be a fantastic addition to Heriot-Watt University and to Scotland.
