Martyn Bennett Prize, Celebrating Young Traditional Music Composers

The motion

That the Parliament notes the Martyn Bennett Prize, which recognises the people who are considered the most promising young composers to be inspired by traditional Scottish music; understands that the prize involves a live performance at Edinburgh’s Queen's Hall of new work written by the five finalists; supports efforts to encourage innovation in traditional Scottish music, and congratulates the 2014 winner, James Lindsay, and the runners-up, Christopher Bradley, Stuart Macpherson, Aidan O’Rourke and Rob Taylor, on their participation.
