Recognising the Work of the Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of the Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments as a Scottish Government-funded grant-maintained specialist school that provides what it considers high quality education and therapy for children and young people affected by cerebral palsy; understands that the school is operating below its optimum capacity as places are available and believes that more children with cerebral palsy could benefit from its services; calls on local authorities to work in partnership with the centre with a view to enabling more children and young people to access this specialist centre and, in so doing, invest in the future wellbeing of those affected by cerebral palsy, and therefore calls on the Scottish Government to take a more direct and proactive role in ensuring that as many children and young people as possible can benefit from what it considers this excellent national resource.
