Funding to Match Business and Higher Education
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the expansion into the college sector of the Scottish Funding Council’s Innovation Voucher Programme, which is a funding scheme that aims to help match entrepreneurial businesses with higher education institutions (HEIs); understands that the scheme was previously only made available to help establish links between the HEIs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); believes that this means that firms in the construction sector will now have access to resources available across the college sector; understands that the programme will provide SMEs with up to £5,000 to work with HEIs; believes that providing this opportunity for HEIs to incentivise business collaboration through the scheme is a welcome opportunity that should lead to the development of new products, services and processes, and considers that it will be of benefit to the businesses, colleges and the wider economy.
