EU Funds Aquamarine Wave Oyster

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes £580,000 worth of EU funding to the Scottish company, Aquamarine Power, to help develop its Oyster device, which is currently being tested in Orkney waters; understands that this funding could help the company move into the commercial market, which would have manifold benefits for Scottish engineering as well as communities close to where the devices would be situated and for green energy development in Europe, and commends the support that the EU is showing the Scottish renewables sector, which, it believes, contrasts with the uncertainty caused to investment in renewables by the UK Government with its announcement to end support for onshore wind.
