Congratulations to the Salvation Army in Falkirk

That the Parliament congratulates the Salvation Army on what it considers the success of its New Future Employability and Training Centre in Falkirk; notes that the centre is a Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland Training Centre and also SQA approved; understands that, since August 2014, 1,291 people have registered with the scheme and, of those, nearly 200 service users have moved into employment; believes that the Salvation Army project has delivered 525 courses as part of this project and considers that this impressive figure signifies the dedication of the group in the area to helping unemployed people find opportunities; notes that these courses offer industry-recognised qualifications; further considers that the project has displayed a strong track record of helping people with complex conditions and other barriers to employment, such as criminal records; congratulates all of the individual staff and volunteers involved, particularly Louise McKnight, the employment development officer in the area, who has overseen the project; looks forward to the Salvation Army launching other beneficial programmes in the Falkirk area, such as the planned debt counselling service and proposed CHANGE youth enterprise programme, and wishes all those involved every success in the future.
