£300,000 Awarded to a New Family Support Service in Inverclyde
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the award of £299,200 over three years by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, through the Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI), to Barnardo’s for the development of the Nurture Plus project to support 80 families where children are affected by parental substance misuse; notes that the PDI is jointly funded by the foundation, the Scottish Government and the Robertson Trust and was set up in 2001 to increase the wellbeing of children and young people affected by alcohol and other drugs; believes that, for every £1 allocated by the Scottish Government to PDI, the foundation and the trust add £1.46 and local matched-funding creates a total pot of £4.92; understands that the project was developed by Barnardo’s and the Inverclyde Alcohol & Drugs Partnership following a consultation with local practitioners on what support is needed to help improve outcomes for children and young people and that it will contribute to local integration plans with outcomes, including improving parenting capacity and ensuring children have a more stable home environment, and considers that that this sort of partnership approach to funding and service provision makes a real difference to vulnerable children and young people’s lives.
