The motion

That the Parliament commends the 23 pupils at Shawlands Academy in Glasgow who have joined the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register; understands that Anthony Nolan is a charitable body that aims to increase the number of stem cell donors and match donors to those in need of transplants; recognises the contribution of Glasgow City Council to increasing the number of stem cell donors among young people in Glasgow; understands that the city council’s education programme, Register & Be a Lifesaver, reaches out to 16 to 18-year-olds in Glasgow’s schools to ensure that they have the opportunity to learn about stem cell donation; believes that the joint effort of the register and city council will help save lives of people who need transplants, and wishes continued success for what it considers an admirable effort to increase participation in stem sell donation.
