Buddhist Vihara Funding Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara on receiving £7,890 in funding from the Communities and Families Fund; notes that it was established in 2002 as Scotland’s first Theravada Buddhist vihara; understands that the funding will be used to provide mindfulness therapy to mothers deemed at risk of experiencing post-natal depression; further understands that mindfulness therapy focuses on limiting and interrupting an individual’s reactions to certain processes that can trigger depressive episodes, and recognises what it considers the wide range of work undertaken at Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara that contributes to the community.
