Riding for the Disabled Funding Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Glasgow Riding for the Disabled Association on being awarded £4,756 from the Communities and Families Fund; notes that the group is based in the parliamentary constituency of Maryhill and Springburn; understands that the funding will be used to provide disabled children with equine therapy sessions; further understands that equine therapy is a highly effective form of physiotherapy as riding and balancing on a horse requires the use of a wide range of muscles; recognises the physical and psychological benefits that equine therapy can bring to people with learning disabilities and conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism and Asperger’s, and commends the staff and volunteers for their hard work in securing this funding.
