West Burn Lane in St Andrews Wins Best Building Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates West Burn Lane in St Andrews on winning the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Andrew Doolan award for the best building in Scotland from a shortlist of 12 projects; notes that West Burn Lane is a project by Sutherland Hussey Harris and that the award is supported by the Scottish Government and the family of the late Andrew Doolan, an award-winning architect who died in 2004; understands that West Burn Lane was awarded a gold medal and a cheque for £25,000, which, it believes, is the largest financial award for architecture in the UK and one of the most significant in Europe, and recognises the contribution of West Burn Lane and the other RIAS Andrew Doolan award candidates to new architecture in Scotland.
