Glasgow Groups Receive Funding from the Young Start Programme

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Paragon Ensemble Limited and the Parkhead Youth Project in Glasgow on receiving £50,000 and £49,275 respectively from the Big Lottery Fund’s Young Start grant programme; understands that Paragon Ensemble Limited will use the award to run a music and dance programme to develop confidence, build life skills and form supporting learning partnerships with people aged from six to 20; notes that this programme plans to engage 250 young people in the next two years; recognises the Parkhead Youth Project for its Awe About Me project, which it understands will provide personal development to improve the lives of young people living in the east end of Glasgow; encourages the project's work to benefit 70 young people by organising weekly workshops, teambuilding events and trips; commends the Big Lottery Fund’s Young Start programme, which aims to support projects that create opportunities for people aged from eight to 24; believes that its goal of encouraging confident, healthy, connected and enterprising children can help young people in Scotland realise their full potential, and wishes Paragon Ensemble Limited, the Parkhead Youth Project and the Young Start programme continued success in their endeavour to improve the lives of young people across Scotland.
