Heritage Lottery Funding for Aberdeenshire West
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates two organisations from the Aberdeenshire West constituency, Getting Rayne Church Bell Ringing Again and Speaking of Peace, which have recently received a total of £19,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund; understands that Getting Rayne Church Bell Ringing Again plans to dismantle and restore the bell tower of Rayne Church in Inverurie and introduce a guided tour and a series of special services for the community; believes that Speaking of Peace plans to examine the lesser-told stories of the First World War in order to explore peace and pacifism, with the hope that this will eventually lead to an event and discussion about the conflict and what peace means to Huntly today and the establishment of a commemorative monument dedicated to what it understands as the pacifist heritage of the town; welcomes the unity that it believes these projects will bring to the communities that they serve, and wishes them well as they move forward with their plans.
