Police Scotland to Access BBIS
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that all 32 local authorities have granted Police Scotland read-only access to the Blue Badge Improvement Service (BBIS) database, which is a central record of all blue badges on issue; believes that the misuse of blue badges is an infringement of the rights of disabled people; recognises the aims of the scheme, which are to provide an essential service for disabled people by allowing access to parking bays and enabling easier access to work, shops and community services, and welcomes what it considers Police Scotland’s commitment to tackling the misuse of blue badges and protecting the parking rights of genuine badge holders.
