Mohsen Amini, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Mohsen Amini on winning the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year title at the City Halls in Glasgow; understands that Mohsen, who lives in Glasgow, will win, among other things, a recording session at BBC Scotland, a performance slot at the Scots Traditional Music Awards and a year’s membership of the Musicians’ Union; understands that Mohsen has been playing concertina since the age of 10 and that his first band, Muran, was named Best Newcomer at the 2012 HebCelt Festival, and commends Mohsen’s current project, Talisk, on picking up a Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections and going on to win the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, which provided the opportunity to play a live session on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe and appear at many high profile folk festivals including Cambridge, Cropredy and Towersey.
