Congratulations to the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust on raising £5.3 million from Dumfries and Galloway Council, Creative Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund for the renovation of Moat Brae house and garden in Dumfries as a national centre for storytelling and children's literature; understands that the author, JM Barrie, played with friends in the garden as a child in Dumfries and that it inspired him to write the children's story, Peter Pan; believes that the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust anticipates that the centre will attract 40,000 visitors annually, creating 12 jobs directly and 20 indirectly, and will contribute £1.3 million to the local economy, and congratulates the trust for its tenacity over the past six years in raising funds to make this proposed major visitor attraction a reality.
