Evie’s 5th Birthday 5k
The motion
That the Parliament commends Shonagh and Danny Byrne for organising a 5k charity run/walk to mark what would have been the 5th birthday of their daughter, Evie, who sadly died from cancer aged just 2; understands that hundreds of Dunfermline residents, of all ages, took part in the evening event on 9 March 2016, running, walking, cycling and scooting around Duloch Park, dressed in pink, sparkles and fairy lights; congratulates everyone involved in supporting what it considers this memorable community event; understands that all proceeds from the evening will go to the charity, It’s Good 2 Give, which provides practical support for children and families experiencing cancer, such as delivering snacks around wards and providing families with a break away from hospital life; notes that the Byrne family plans to run in the London Marathon on 24 April 2016 for It’s Good 2 Give, and wishes them every success in completing the marathon and in their campaign to raise awareness of childhood cancer and raise vital funds so that It’s Good 2 Give can increase what it considers the already wonderful support that it provides to children and families living with cancer right across Scotland.
