Glasgow Anti-racism March and Rally
The motion
That the Parliament understands that, on 19 March 2016, thousands of campaigners took to the streets of Glasgow to condemn racism and voice their support for refugees; notes that the march and rally coincided with others to mark UN Anti-racism Day; believes that this outpouring of compassion demonstrated that the people of Scotland consider refugees to be welcome; further believes that the country is a beacon for the rest of the UK and Europe, where there has been increasingly negative rhetoric, and welcomes moves to protect people in need and fleeing for their lives.
