Opening of the River Spey Fishing Season
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the annual ceremony to open the fishing season on the River Spey was held at the Penny Bridge in Aberlour on 11 February 2019; acknowledges that, as is traditional, a bottle of 12-year-old malt whisky was poured into the river as a blessing for the good health of the salmon; believes that, with some of the best beats in Scotland, the Spey is hugely important to the economies and angling sectors of Moray and Scotland, and wishes all involved with fishing on the Spey the very best for a good season.
