Lathallan School Raises Money for Bliss Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Lathallan School on its recent fundraising efforts for the Aberdeen-based sick and premature baby charity, Bliss Scotland, through the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Scotland; notes that the school donated £3,000 to Bliss Scotland, with the promise of additional donations from future fundraising efforts; acknowledges that this is the fifth consecutive year that the Johnshaven school has taken part in the YPI Scotland programme, with Hear Me Counselling, Blairgowrie Stroke Club, Mental Health Aberdeen and Riding for the Disabled Royal Deeside (RDA) all benefiting from the school's previous fundraising efforts; understands that Lathallan's YPI programme, led by the school's principal teacher of business studies and computer science, Mr Ranjit Fernandez, is completed by all S3 pupils; commends the pupils and staff for undertaking additional fundraising for the charity for the remainder of the academic year; notes that 2018's charity, RDA, received an additional £2,500 donation from the school's fundraising efforts, including from the participation of Mr Fernandez and his fellow staff member, Mr Grant Henderson, in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk; recognises the significant additional fundraising efforts of Lathallan from the school’s social enterprise, Pipers' Coffee Shop, which has raised in excess of £20,000 for local charities and good causes in the last six years, while supporting pupil employability skills with the help of local community volunteer bakers, and wishes all the staff and pupils at Lathallan School well.
