Queen of the South FC Celebrates 100th Birthday

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Queen of the South FC on turning 100 years old; understands that it was on 21 March 1919 that the first meeting was held to discuss the merger of three already formed Dumfries clubs becoming Queen of the South; notes that the club has won three division two league championships as well as the Scottish Challenge Cup, and reached the Scottish Cup Final in 2008 which resulted in the club qualifying for Europe; welcomes the continued positive role that the club plays in the communities in and around Dumfries and across the region; encourages local residents to show support for their local team, and wishes the club's current manager Gary Naysmith, the players, chairman, board, staff and everyone associated with the club all the best for the rest of the season and for the future.
