50th Anniversary of The Open University
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of The Open University (OU), which it believes has worked hard to open up education for all; understands that it is the UK's largest academic institution and has empowered over two million students across 157 countries to transform their lives; notes that, to mark this, the OU is building an exciting programme of events and activities that will highlight all of the work that its staff, students, donors and partners have carried out to shape what it sees as this much-loved institution and to celebrate the impact that it has had, including on the lives of its Scottish students and on communities and people from across the UK and the rest of the world, and wishes the OU all the very best for the next 50 years and beyond.
