Rev Jim Gibson's Retirement
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the retirement of Reverend James (Jim) Gibson, recently of Bothwell Parish, after 42 years as a minister; notes that he has spent the last 30 years of his ministry in Bothwell and that throughout his ministry he has been noted for his depth of care for his parishioners and his service to the local community; understands that Rev Gibson was also a Queen’s Chaplain and a convener of major boards of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; recognises that, in addition to these commitments, he also served for 20 years as a member of the Territorial Army; believes that Rev Gibson has, through his works, demonstrated a life lived in service of others and a model for others to follow, and wishes him and his wife, Doreen, well in his well-earned retirement.
