University of Stirling Women Win Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the University of Stirling women’s tennis first team on receiving the Team of the Year award from Tennis Scotland; understands that the award was given to the team following a successful 2018 season that saw the team achieve top spot at the European Universities Games in Portugal and the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) in Sheffield, as well as finishing as runners-up in the national league; notes that the Tennis Scotland award ceremony was held at Gleneagles on 9 April 2019 and shortlisted more than 70 finalists across 14 different categories; considers that sporting achievements such as this reinforce the University of Stirling’s position as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, and commends its women’s tennis team for this achievement and its actions in encouraging more people of all ages and abilities to pick up a tennis racket and have some fun.
