Edinburgh Mela
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates all those who planned and took part in the Edinburgh Mela, Scotland’s biggest intercultural festival, at Pilrig Park on 29 to 31 August 2003; notes that over 40,000 people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds attended the weekend’s events; recognises the significant contribution the Edinburgh Mela makes to intercultural activities, and calls on the Scottish Executive, the Scottish Arts Council and the City of Edinburgh Council to continue to work with communities across Scotland in developing this event and related activities in the future.
