Auld Enemies Cup 2005

The motion

That the Parliament notes that the 18th Scotland v England Blind Golf International was held at Hamilton Golf Club from 20 to 24 September 2005 and congratulates all those whose dedicated work behind the scenes made this event possible; further congratulates both the sets of players and their guides on being selected for their respective teams, especially the Scotland team of captain John Miller from Glasgow with guide Ian Sneddon, Cameron McDiarmid from Edinburgh with guide Jim McDiarmid, Alistair Reid from Stonehaven with guide Jock Lawson, Kenneth Freeman from Glasgow with guide Corinne Freeman, John Imrie from Aberdeen with guide Brian Thomson, Stuart Wilkie from Auchterarder with guide Bill Ferguson, Gerry Kelly from Troon with guide Mary Kelly, Jim Eadie from Glasgow with guide Mat Gallagher, Jim Gales from Cupar with guide Paul Shepherd, Myles Clark from Brechin with guide Jill Clarke, Sam Sloan from Edinburgh with guide Scott Sloan, Iain Prime from North Berwick with guide Steve White and Peter Philip from Edinburgh with guide Jimmy Philip, for winning the Auld Enemies Cup 15 and a half to eight and a half in order to take an eight to seven lead in matches won, and believes it is imperative that, as the profile of disabled sports grows, there are events such as the Auld Enemies Cup which allow disabled people the fullest opportunity to play both team and individual sports.
