Congratulations to Scottish Filmmakers

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Scottish Screen, the national screen agency, and Scotland’s filmmaking talent behind the three films that have been winning awards and making headlines around the world; notes that Red Road and Hallam Foe, both from Glasgow production company, Sigma Films, have won major awards in numerous categories at Cannes, the BAFTA Film Awards and the Berlin Film Festival; further notes that The Last King of Scotland, from Slate Films, won three awards at the recent BAFTA Film Awards and that its lead actor, Forest Whitaker, won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as the dictator, Idi Amin, and congratulates all the talented people involved in these films which bring great credit to the film industry in Scotland.
