Fife Leads on Being Green
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Fife Council and Diageo Scotland Supply in Cameronbridge, Fife on being two of the seven Scottish organisations to receive Carbon Trust Standard certificates; notes that these are the first awards in the world to recognise organisations that have significantly cut their carbon dioxide outputs; applauds Fife Council for reducing its carbon emissions by 4% over the last three years with a commitment to further slash carbon output by 80% by 2050; further praises Diageo for cutting carbon emissions by 4% each year with an aim to cut output from fossil fuels by 50% by 2015, and encourages other Scottish organisations to cut their carbon emissions by setting similar targets and follow the example shown by the current seven recipients of these awards.
