Armed Forces Day

The motion

That the Parliament notes that 27 June 2009 has been designated Armed Forces Day, giving people across Scotland the opportunity to recognise the brave service of servicemen and women past and present; further notes that events will be taking place across Scotland, beginning in Fife on 13 June and with celebrations in Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh on 27 June; welcomes the decision of the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body to fly the commemorative flag at the Parliament on Armed Forces Day and the efforts of councils and communities across the country to mark Armed Forces Day, and, in recognising their sterling work, urges people across the country to show their support for serving personnel and veterans.
