Scotch Whisky and Tourism
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the Scotch whisky industry and its contribution to tourism in Scotland; understands that whisky tourism brings over 1.3 million visitors to the Scotch whisky visitor centres and distilleries across the country each year; welcomes the industry’s contribution to the economy and the jobs market in Scotland and the growing number of international tourists that Scotch whisky distilleries and visitor centres bring to Scotland annually; considers that, to increase the number of tourists coming to Scotland, the hospitality industry needs to increase Scotland's global presence as well as continue to provide excellent services to keep visitors in Scotland for longer; considers that the Scotch whisky industry is committed to increasing tourism to Scotland, and supports the industry’s work with other agencies and industries to help achieve this.
