30th Anniversary of East Kilbride Credit Union
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates East Kilbride Credit Union on what it understands has been 30 years of continuous service to the people of East Kilbride and Strathaven; notes that, to celebrate this landmark, one month's free membership has been offered to members joining in October 2012; considers that the commitment of its staff and volunteers and an ethos of mutualism and shared responsibility have been integral to what it sees as the ongoing success and popularity of East Kilbride Credit Union and the credit union movement, and calls on the Scottish Government to support the development of credit unions as an ethical alternative to mainstream finance.
