The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the new report, Are We Living and Dying Well Yet?, which was published by Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care; notes that this report follows a seminar in February 2014 involving MSPs, civil servants, academics and healthcare professionals to discuss the future of end of life care in Scotland; supports the report’s conclusions and recommendation that a new strategic framework for action should be devised to meet the challenge of ensuring that every person in Scotland receives high quality care toward the end of their life; notes that Dying Matters Awareness Week runs from 12 to 18 May 2014, and encourages all MSPs to support Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief, Scotland’s campaign for raising public awareness of ways of dealing with death, dying and bereavement.
