Anniversary of the Turriff Show
The motion
That the Parliament applauds what it considers the success of the annual Turriff Show, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary on 3-4 August 2014; understands that the event, organised by the Turriff District Agricultural Association, is the largest two-day agricultural show in Scotland and the biggest annual event held in Aberdeenshire; believes that it is a showcase for north-east agriculture and an excellent opportunity to promote the region’s thriving food and drink industry; welcomes that Her Majesty the Queen will help celebrate the show’s 150th anniversary, visiting the show and presenting what is considered the prestigious Champion of Champions prize; understands that visitors from across Scotland and around the world will this year be able to enjoy attractions including approximately 300 trade stands, the March of Time vintage farm machinery and car show, a food fayre, cookery and butchery demonstrations, a motocross display, the Turriff & District Pipe Band Contest, highland dancing and a funfair; congratulates all those who have contributed to the success of the "Turra" show throughout its long and proud history, and hopes that this year’s event will once again be a great success.
