Shelter's Make Renting Right Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of Shelter Scotland’s Make Renting Right campaign; notes that this coincides with the Scottish Government’s consultation on proposals to reform tenancies in the private rented sector; understands that over 300,000 people in Scotland are now in the private rented sector and that this figure has almost doubled in the last decade from 160,000; believes that tenancy reform is required to provide stability and security for both tenants and landlords; congratulates Shelter Scotland on its tireless campaigning for fairer housing throughout Scotland, and supports this Scotland-wide campaign to raise awareness of reforming what it considers the current outdated tenancy regime in the private rented sector.
