Dementia Awareness Week 2015
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that Alzheimer Scotland’s annual Dementia Awareness Week will run from 1 to 7 June 2015; understands that the theme is Let’s Talk About Dementia, encouraging people from all walks of life to talk about the condition to help remove stigma around dementia; notes that Alzheimer Scotland’s annual conference will take place on 1 June 2015 with the theme Global Progress – Local Impact, examining what it considers Scotland’s world-leading approach to dementia policy and practice as well as the international collaborations in which Scotland is involved; recognises the importance of the conference for professionals to learn about and share good practice taking place in Scotland, the UK and in other countries across the world, building on the Alzheimer Europe conference held in Glasgow in October 2014; welcomes what it considers the extensive range of events being held across Scotland to engage with members of the public and provide further information about the condition; acknowledges that MSPs can play an active role in raising awareness in their constituencies and regions to promote awareness of dementia and to start the conversation in their area; further understands that Alzheimer Scotland branches and dementia resource centres can provide promotional materials and resources to display to help raise awareness, and congratulates Alzheimer Scotland on what it sees as its important campaigning work.
