The motion

That the Parliament notes that Knockhill Racing Circuit near Dunfermline hosted its biggest event of the year, the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship, on 22 and 23 August 2015; considers this a prestigious event, which, it understands, attracted around 15,000 visitors from across the UK, generated economic benefits and provided worldwide exposure for the circuit, Dunfermline, Fife and Scotland; believes that there was a travelling entourage of some 2,500 team members, mechanics, press and hospitality suppliers, all of whom required accommodation for a minimum of three nights, thus bringing over 7,500 bed nights for the area’s economy; notes that the event was covered live on ITV4, with viewing figures measured in the millions; understands that Knockhill is the only full-time facility of its type in Scotland, and congratulates all involved in organising the event.
