Play Talk Read
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the arrival of Play Talk Read’s Benji the Bus to the Parliament on 1 October 2015; understands that the Play Talk Read campaign helps empower parents, grandparents and carers to interact more often with their children and improves their awareness of the benefits of incorporating playing, talking and reading into a young child’s daily routine and that doing this daily in a child’s early years will have a positive impact not just on children, but on families, communities, closing the attainment gap and on the bond between parent and child; believes that, in the year to August 2014, almost 40,000 children and parents across Scotland visited the two Play Talk Read buses, and celebrates the success that the programme is having across Scotland.
