Aberdeen University’s Shining Lights Scholarships
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the introduction of the Shining Lights scholarship programme at the University of Aberdeen; understands that its purpose is to support students with refugee status who wish to study in the UK; further understands that the programme will initially offer support to four refugees; notes that the funding will cover tuition fees, year-round accommodation and support for living costs, and will be available for undergraduate and taught postgraduate degrees; believes that members of the public can make private donations to the fund to allow more refugees to take up this scholarship, and congratulates University of Aberdeen students, staff and senior management on taking the initiative to support young people under what it considers difficult circumstances.
