Jan McTaggart Retires after 25 Years of Service to the Arts
The motion
That the Parliament notes that, after what it considers 25 years of loyal and dedicated service to the arts in Scotland, Jan McTaggart, the front of house manager at the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling, retired on 30 September 2015; understands that Jan's creative arts career began as an usher at the centre in 1990 and that this was swiftly followed by roles as a costumer dresser and a chaperone before taking up the front of house manager position; believes that she worked with numerous artists and directors and recruited and line-managed over 100 ushers; understands that she helped welcome over 1,500,000 patrons, performers and visitors to the venue, including some of the best known names from across the UK in theatre, film and television; congratulates Jan on being recognised as the longest-ever serving member of staff in what it believes has been the venue's long and illustrious history since it opened in 1971; considers that, although past and present staff, patrons and artist will be sad to hear of Jan’s retirement, they will join the Parliament in thanking her for her tireless service and wish her a happy and eventful retirement, and hopes that Jan enjoys the best of luck for her future endeavours.
