BEMIS Celebrates Scotland’s Winter Festivals 2015-16

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the multicultural celebrations facilitated by BEMIS Scotland as part of the Year of Food and Drink 2015 and Winter Festivals; notes that BEMIS Scotland and its network of community organisations work to support the development of the ethnic minority voluntary sector across the country; understands that a programme of events involving 65 such organisations took place to mark St Andrew’s Day and that further activities are planned for over the winter festival period, which will culminate in a range of events during Burns' weekend in January 2016; acknowledges what it sees as the role that Scotland's diverse multicultural communities play in enhancing the cultural landscape, and looks forward to the event, BEMIS Celebrates Burns, which is scheduled to take place on 25 January 2016 as part of the Celtic Connections festival and will aim to celebrate Scotland's diversity.
