The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Disability History Month, which takes place from 22 November to 22 December 2015; notes that this year’s theme is Justice not Charity in recognition of disabled people’s campaign for civil rights in Scotland over the last century; acknowledges that November 2015 marked 20 years since the coming into force of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995; considers that, although the Act was a landmark in its time, there is more work to be done in combatting all forms of discrimination against disabled people; notes the candlelight vigil, All Together Now, being held by Disability History Scotland on 3 December in memory of those who have passed away as a result of welfare changes, and commends the work of the many great organisations pursuing justice and equality for disabled people.
