Funding Boost for Tackling Glasgow's Waste

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow City Council on its strategy, Tackling Glasgow’s Waste, being awarded £3 million from Zero Waste Scotland; understands that this will be used toward informing residents of the importance of recycling and to encourage the separation of food waste; supports the goal of the strategy, which is to have every household recycling food waste by March 2017; understands that Zero Waste Scotland supports the delivery of the Zero Waste Plan along with other low-carbon and resource efficiency policies; believes that Glasgow’s strategy will contribute to meeting the UK-wide target of at least 70% of all waste being recycled by 2025; commends the council on its work toward achieving this goal; believes that the strategy will bring economic and environmental benefits to Scotland’s largest city, and hopes that it is successful.
