Glasgow Sports Awards 2016

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the shortlist for the Glasgow Sports Person of the Year Awards, which has been announced ahead of the ceremony in February 2016; believes that the awards will be held in the Glasgow City Chambers, celebrating those who promote sports across the city and inspire future generations of athletes; considers that the 2015 awards mark one of the most memorable years in the city’s sporting history, with Glasgow hosting two Davis Cup ties, the IPC Swimming World Championships and the European Judo Open; notes that a total of 12 awards will be handed out on the evening in different categories, including Coach of the Year, Services to Sport Lifetime Achievement Award, Club of the Year and Young Sports Person of the Year; applauds all sportsmen and women nominated for the awards on what it considers the fantastic work that they do to develop sport in communities across the city, and wishes all nominees every success on the big night.
