Many Cultures Make Glasgow

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the event, Many Cultures Make Glasgow, which will take place on 27 February 2016; understands that it will be held in Glasgow City Chambers and will include a fantastic selection of performances from the groups and people across different nationalities and cultures that have chosen to make the city their home; notes that it aims to celebrate what it sees as the important contribution that these communities make to the city and how they have helped in shaping it; understands that the performances will include traditional singing, African drumming and storytelling, Polish poetry and Slovakian and Roma folk music; believes that there will be a chance to sample food from the various nationalities represented and that there will be information stalls for people to browse; encourages the people of Glasgow to support the event, which it considers an opportunity to explore and learn about other cultures, and wishes all of the performers every success on the day.
