Gordon Highlanders Museum

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the Gordon Highlanders Museum’s new exhibition, Sacrifice at the Somme; understands that the exhibition has attracted Hollywood attention and will be officially opened on 3 March 2016 by the actor, Dougray Scott; congratulates the team at the museum on their continued efforts make the history of the north east accessible to local residents and those who visit the area; acknowledges that the exhibition will remember the 50,000 Gordon Highlanders who served in the war and the 27,000 of those who were killed or wounded, telling their stories through the eyes of the north-east soldiers who fought on the French battlefield, and commemorate the bloodiest battle of World War 1 exactly 100 years after it was fought, and wishes the exhibition, which is open until November 2016, and the staff working at the Gordon Highlanders Museum all the best for a successful year ahead.
