World Book Day 2016

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates World Book Day on 3 March 2016; understands that World Book Day is a global celebration of books and reading and is marked in more than 100 countries worldwide; notes that it aims to promote improved literacy levels among children and encourage regular reading at an early age; understands that school children across Scotland are entitled to receive a free World Book Day £1 Book Token supplied by National Book Tokens Ltd, and encourages both parents and children to participate in World Book Day and to take part in the many local events taking place in schools, libraries and nurseries across Scotland.
